On Saturday 12th December 2015 Cllr Mike McDonald ,the Mayor of Whitchurch, officially opened DLB Photography’s new studio at 18/19 Watergate Arcade, Whitchurch.
DLB Photography is brand new to the town offering Family, Baby, Maternity, Boudoir and Bridal shoots. It’s a family business owned by Diane and Lee Broders. Together they’ve totally stripped and renovated the studio and are excited to welcome new clients.
Diane said, “It was wonderful to have the Mayor cut the ribbon on our new studio with so many of our friends around us. There’s been a lot of people support, mentor and train us on the road to this and it was a very special day to share. We’re looking forward now to creating special moments and memories for everyone who steps through our door.”
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
DLB Photography ( www.dlbphotography.co.uk) a premier photography business based in Whitchurch, Shropshire started in October 2014 by Diane and Lee Broders, who are both members of The Societies of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (www.swpp.co.uk), worked primarily from a home studio in Broughall.
In July of this year Diane joined the Whitchurch Chamber of Trade to represent DLB Photography, as Lee was already a member for ALG Mediation (www.algmediation.org). During the meeting Mr T Smith of Mattel Rentals mentioned the rejuvenation of Watergate Arcade, encouraging more businesses into the arcade. Discussions ensued between DLB Photography and Mattel Rentals, securing 18/19 Watergate Arcade at the beginning of October, shortly afterwards work started on the new studio.
Over the last 2 months the studio has been stripped, plastered, redecorated and new flooring laid, in preparation of the opening deadline of the 12th December 2015, with a lot a late night done. Fiona’s cafe next door have been good supplying Tea, coffee, butties and the occasional puddings. With a lot of support from local businesses in the Whitchurch Chamber of Trade has been extremely good.”
DLB Photography Studio was eventually opened by The Mayor of Whitchurch Cllr Mike McDonald at 1000 on Saturday 12th December 2015, where a number of internationally acclaimed photographers were in attendance from around the country to show their support to DLB Photography. These were:
John Denton FSWPP a Master Photographer based in Hull, John is an accomplished International Photographic Trainer and Author giving lectures and seminars around the world, including Las Vegas in 2015 at the Wedding Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention, where he has been invited to again in 2016. John Whitmore ASWPP of JMW Imaging, joined us for our opening. John specialises in portrait photography and was nominated by them for pet photographer of the year in 2013. More information www.jmwimaging.co.uk
Michelle Whitmore ASWPP also joined us for our opening. Michelle is an acclaimed international Macro and Portrait photographer. More information www.michellewhitmore.co.uk
Additionally there were 2 models in the studio giving photographers had a chance to use the studio lighting and backdrops, while other people came in to chat with the photographers and find out more about the business and photography in general. John Denton and Diane Broders also the two the models to the Civic Centre to use the graffiti walls as local backdrops, with a view of promoting both Whitchurch Town and the diversity of the Civic Centre.
A good day was had by all those in attendance, and Diane and Lee looking forward to being able to offer photographic services to the people of Whitchurch and surrounding areas, whether it is a family portrait for grandparents, a maternity shoot to capture the special moment in a couples life, followed by shoots of your newborn baby to cherish those moments for ever, even have a 1st year Cake Smash session.
